IPCA’S clinical trial on β-ARTEETHER gets published in American Journal of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene
Ipca had conducted clinical trial on β-arteether, before launching it in Indian market.

The trial was conducted at 5 centers; Dr. Amitabha Nandy; Centre For Tropical Medicine & Parasitology (CENTROMAP), Kolkata, Dr. Dhanpat Kochar, Cerebral Malaria Research Lab, Bikaner, Dr. K. H. Patel,  Medical College & SSG Hospital, Baroda, Dr. S. K. Mishra,  Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela and  Dr. P. C. Mathur, G. R. Medical College, Gwalior.

The study included 138 adult patients suffering from acute plasmodium falciparum malaria, who were randomized to receive either b-arteether or a/b-arteether injection.  Both arteether formulations were safe and efficacious in reducing the clinical symptoms of acute falciparum malaria. There was also rapid clearance of parasitaemia with both formulations..

This trial was published in an international journal – American Journal of Tropical Medicine &  Hygiene, 75(1), 2006, p. 139-142.
